How long will my mouthguard last?

As your mouth and jaw change as you grow, you will need to have your mouth-guard replace periodically. During periods of rapid growth, your mouth guard may need to be replaced every six months. Once you are fully grown your mouth guard only needs to be replaced if it becomes damaged or wears out. Bring your mouth guard to each of your dental check up. Your dentist can check the fit and condition and arrange for a replacement if necessary.

How do I take care of my mouthguard?

Always store your mouthguard in a cool place. Heat can distort the mouthguard and it will no longer fit correctly in your mouth. Once the fit is incorrect, the mouthguard does not offer maximum protection. After use, rinse your mouthguard thoroughly under cold water and store it in the box provided. If your mouthguard is not rinsed, bacteria can grow and cause odour. If the mouthguard is going to be stored for a long period of time, let the mouthguard dry first before placing it in the box to prevent mould forming. From time to time, gently brush your mouthguard with liquid hand soap and a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly before storing back in its box
